Little Makalolo Game Viewing
Makalolo is one of the best areas for seeing impressive herds of buffalo and elephant as well as apex predators such as lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah. Other general game is very abundant in the Park.

Bird life in the area is prolific (400+) and varied, with species frequenting teak woodlands as well as those more typical of the drier Kalahari being present.

The terrain in the Makalolo area is an interesting combination of Kalahari sandveld, miombo woodland, and teak forests, and the scenery varies from sweeping, palm-fringed plains to grasslands and acacia bushveld. This diverse and rich habitat in turn supports great volumes and variety of animals, most spectacularly large herds of elephant and buffalo. This is also one of the best areas in Hwange for predators, with good numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog. One of the highlights of the area is the high concentrations of majestic sable and roan antelope, both rare and beautiful species.

Accommodation

Little Makalolo does a great job of combining high standards of service with quality facilities; it's probably the most comfortable safari camp inside Hwange National Park. Its chalets have the canvas construction of a classic bush camp, yet the décor combines this with welcome contemporary features. The plunge pool and lounge area are great for relaxing and unwinding. Its activities are varied; with walking safaris, drives and different hides. Little Makalolo is in an excellent game area and has highly professional guides, so walking in this area is a highlight not to be missed.
