Miombo Safari Camp has the distinction of being the closest quality accommodation to Hwange National Park Main Gate & is located in the DETE annex, on a private concession within the eastern border of the Hwange National Park. Heading southeast from Victoria Falls it is an easy two hour drive either by transfer vehicle, or self-driving a rental car to access Miombo Safari Camp; coming from Bulawayo which is the second largest city in Zimbabwe it is an easy three hours drive.
Here at Miombo Safari Camp discerning safari guests will undoubtedly experience the wonders of the African bush up close & personal, under the watchful & big-hearted hospitality bestowed by the Miombo Safari Camp team.
Not only it is estimated that some 30,000 elephants reside within Hwange & make it their home range, but there is a millenniums old elephant migratory trail that runs from the Caprivi Strip through the Chobe region of Botswana, to the far south-eastern corner of Hwange National Park.
With a proud history of having delivered exceptional African safari experiences since 1993, Miombo Safari Camp has recently undergone an astonishing transformation & refurbishment – a transformation that will continue to add amazing value-for-money in what for our discerning guests, is as intimate a place as is to be found anywhere in Africa.

Here at Miombo Safari Camp we offer three different styles of guest accommodation.
Having undergone a total transformation we have four brand new boutique raised above ground level platforms that are 75sqm, atop of which are exquisite luxury 55sqm safari suites, configured to accommodate two guests in a queen sized double or twin-bed configuration.
The four raised platform guest suites are constructed on top of very strong poles & steel beams, with a sturdy light-coloured wooden floor, double canvas sides with large bug-screen covered windows. The forward facing folding doors that open out onto the verandah overlooking the waterhole have large bug-screens & roll down blinds.
In addition to the folding doors, each window in the suite has a roll down canvas blind that guests can choose whether they have up, secured & open, or down & closed for privacy. Each of these guest suites has a main bedroom, with a wardrobe & storage space for clothes & footwear, a private en-suite bathroom with twin ´His & Hers` basins, ample hot & cold running water on demand, an interior private shower & separate private toilet. Guest amenities include bottled water, drinking glasses & in the bathroom shampoo & conditioner, body lotion & a hair dryer which are all there at your disposal.
The electricity & power outlets within these guest suites are 240v.
On the verandah of each raised platform guest suite there are two safari chairs & a small table.
One of the four raised platforms is our embellished Honeymoon suite, equipped with a large bath tub & as well as the private interior shower, additionally it has a private exterior shower.
Each of the four raised platform guests suites are spaced well apart to ensure privacy, but whilst being positioned apart they all have commanding views over the perennial waterhole, which proves to be a magnet especially so during the dry season, for all manner of mammals & birds, large & small, seeking a life-giving drink.
We also have two standard tree houses. These accommodation units are rustic & not of the same standard as the new platform units. Instead they cater to safari lovers who may have been to Miombo Safari Camp prior to its transformation, or folks who are seeking a slightly less luxury & more `rustic` bush accommodation. One of the tree houses has a double bed, the other one has twin single beds. Both have en-suite bathroom, flush toilet, walk-in shower & basin with vanity unit. They have a personal security safe & electric fans. These two tree houses overlook the waterhole & are in prime location for game viewing from the balcony or your bed, in perfect safety.
In addition to the raised platform guest suites there are four classic ground level thatched roof rondavels, each one accommodating two guests, with bedroom, wardrobe, private bathroom & shower.
Miombo Safari Camp willingly caters to families with young children or teenagers & we can accommodate a family of four under the same roof.
A large in-ground swimming pool on the sprawling lawn in front of main lodge is there for all of our guests to use, noting that children using the pool must be supervised by an adult.
Here at Miombo Safari Camp we offer two distinctly different choices of safari stays – the ´All Inclusive Safari´ or the ´Independent Safari´ program.
So there is a high degree of flexibility for guests to make their own choices in advance of placing their reservation, in regards to the program that best caters to their needs.
