About Mwinilunga Safaris

Mwinilunga Safaris take pleasure in offering the following experiences and activities on the mighty Zambezi River.  Their emphasis is on a family environment, tailor-made to suit your requirements:-

Mana Pools
Mana Pools is a National Heritage Site, consisting of a flood plain running alongside the Zambezi River. There is an abundance of wildlife in this area during the period from June to November, as many animals make their way down to the river to escape the dry season in the interior.  Mana Pools is unique as it is one of the last remaining national parks where you are able to explore the bush on foot. Mwinilunga Safaris operate a mobile-tented camp in this area in a scenic venue on the banks of the river.  For your safety, they have a professional hunter as the guide in camp at all times.  The tents are spacious and comfortable with a small wash area attached in its own private enclosure. This consists of a table, camp wash-basin and an “emergency” porta loo for a “midnight calling”!  There is also a communal hot shower and flushing toilet in the camp.

Canoeing the Zambezi
These trips depart from Chirundu or Mongwe and end at Mana Pools.  These include either one or two nights’ participatory camping experience on the river banks in tents (cooking and bush camping with your guide).  A comfortable tented camp awaits you at Mana (detailed as above), where you can stay for as long as you wish.  We suggest a minimum of 3 to 4 nights, thus experiencing the river itself as well as enjoying Mana Pools.  For your convenience, you are able to fly into Chirundu and fly out of Mana Pools directly to Harare Main Airport.

A maximum of ten guests can be accommodated.

Most are year round residents, but at certain times of the year the Lower Zambezi hosts a great number of migratory birds, both breeding and non-breeding. This affords visitors to the park a great opportunity to observe birds that cannot be found anywhere else in Southern Africa.

Mana Pools supports a healthy populations of fish species in good numbers and size, which creates huge potential for a fishing trip that will rival any in the region. All angling is either done off the bank or by using canoes to get to desirable locations. Guides with local knowledge and expertise in locating particular species will be on hand to ensure that you are given the best opportunity to catch the many fish on offer.

Photographic Safaris are becoming a very popular choice among serious and amateur photographers alike. Mana Pools offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with a wide array of wildlife including four of the big five. The Lower Zambezi landscapes are unique and offer a wealth of diverse scenery which allows for fantastic photography. Experienced guides who know the area and it's inhabitants will make every effort to put you in the right place at the right time to give you the best photo opportunities
